Imagine vineyard after vineyard with every color of grape you can envision, red delicious,
golden delicious apples just being picked off trees, hop fields, cherry orchards, nearly a
dozen different wineries, gently rolling hills and 120 miles of amazing sun soaked fun.
This is the setting for the Kiwanis Wine country Trek, a two day bike trek from Yakima,
Washington through the
fertile Yakima Valley to Prosser Washington where riders may
participate in Prosser's annual Hot Air Balloon Festival, Harvest Festival, and perhaps even
a winery tour. The event includes numerous break stops, lunch both days, breakfast Sunday
morning, a wonderful prime rib dinner Saturday night and overnight camping in Prosser.
The Kiwanis Wine Country Trek is sponsored by the Apple Valley Kiwanis club of Yakima and
the Prosser Kiwanis Club. These groups are civic organizations dedicated to community
service and support for children’s programs in the Yakima Valley. Our clubs have served the
community for over 20 years and continue to maintain a high level of volunteerism and
financial support for community projects. Some of our projects include: Prosser Skate Park,
North East Yakima Skate Park, Davis Key Club, Prosser Key Club, Prosser Builders Club,
McClure K-Kids Club, Lend-a-Crib, American River Lodge, Camp Breathe Easy, Battered Women’s
Shelter, Reading is Fundamental, Artist in Residence, and numerous other community and youth
service projects.
